our understandings and misunderstandings concerning prayer. It was so
good to spend time working through our own understanding compared to
scripture and then trying to see if and how it is applicable in our
lives.
As for myself prayer has been a distant part of my relationship
with God. And no matter how many questions I can pose concerning how
to pray, what to pray for, and what do I mean by "your will be done" I
am realizing the dried up effect that not praying is having on me.
Praying is an outward pouring of myself to God. It is my chance to
speak with Someone who is actually listening and intent on hearing me
out. Regardless of it's effect on outcomes prayer is seemingly
important. Every example that I have in the scriptures are of men of
God turning to Him in all times and stages of their walk. In the good
times and the desperate times. The Psalms read like a man with bipolar
disorder as it goes from all out praise to complete and utter
hopelessness in the same chapter. Most of all Christ's example an
teaching on prayer is enough. Though my questions continue to encircle
my every thought I see the example set in place by the One is the
example.
This truly doesn't get into the real heart of the issue but it
gets the issue rolling and causes me to be honest with myself and you.
I need to pray. I want to pray and God seemingly wants to hear me pray.
I cannot promise that I will pray for you or that I will I will be
able to pray specifically what you ask but I will pursue prayer
fervantly with all thanksgiving and with the desire to pray God's will
is understood or simply accepted in each of our lives.
In christ,
Ryan
